The photographs of Poland born Jan Cieslikiewicz got me by surprise when I saw a monkey in one of his pictures. Then I discovered that this guy has one sick portfolio of travel images. Maybe travel photography isn’t the right word, I think he’s uses traveling as a mere instrument to shoot his pictures. Most of my recent posts have been about people who set out to explore the world. I find it rather fascinating to read about the people that are breaking with some kind of routines to gain a new perspective.
“I am that guy who cut his chain a couple years ago. Now I carry a camera and be looking for new adventures and trying to get a better understanding of the world that surrounds me.”
Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to travel to the other side of the world. In your own village, city or country their is a vast amount of new and exciting land (and people) to discover. That being said, for me Jan his work can be considered the result of a new stance and perspective towards life;
“I am that guy who cut his chain a couple years ago. Now I carry a camera and be looking for new adventures and trying to get a better understanding of the world that surrounds me. It was a chain created by engaging in activities that demanded a very strict routine.
“Now I’m choosing my commitments so that I don’t get chained to a routine again. I love it.”
“Most recently it was a job as a trader in New York. Prior to that, I was a competitive swimmer, and I was spending countless hours training. Eventually I got fed up and realized it wasn’t the kind of lifestyle I wanted for myself. So I quit my job and started travelling. Now I’m choosing my commitments so that I don’t get chained to a routine again. I love it.”
Our friends from Talkbak did a wicked interview with Jan on their website, so for now we let his images do the talking!
